Written
by Peter Nichols, The National Health was originally
staged by The National Theatre in 1969. A black
comedy with tragic overtones, the story is set in a
men’s ward of an under funded national health
hospital highlighting the red tape and short falls
within the system. Moments of improbable farce are
inextricably entwined with blood soaked human
tragedy. Jeff portrayed the role of Barnet in the
Belgrade production staged in 1970. |
