Written
by Bill Johnson, this typically old fashioned
melodrama was performed at the Belgrade Theatre,
Coventry in March 1970 for a three week run. In true
keeping with the genre, the story centres on the
dastardly villain Munro and his pursuit of the
innocent country maiden Nellie Lovelove. Would- be
adultery, drink, blackmail and murder all rear their
ugly heads with Jeff’s portrayal of the rustic,
bumbling and likeable Mookie Maguggins adding to the
colourful mix as he eyes up French maid, Fleurette.
Joining Jeff in the cast was Sheila Ferris of Likely
Lads fame. |
